Those born in the Ren Wu or Gui Wei years have the Na Yin element of Willow Wood. This wood is as pliant and graceful as the weeping willows along the Sui Dyke 🌿, and as light and舒展 as the new branches in the Han Garden. Its nature resembles ten thousand strands of silk yet is not used for silkworm threads; its thousand tendrils are not meant for binding. Wu and Wei represent the declining positions of wood (death and tomb), yet Ren and Gui water can nourish its roots. This wood most favors sandy soil as its foundation, finding support and potential when encountering Gen Mountain (northeast) and flourishing with vitality when seeing Yin or Mao (east) 🌱; Xin Chou (Wall Earth) paired with a mountain is auspicious, while Geng Zi (Wall Earth) is slightly inferior; Wu Yin (City Wall Earth) is good, but Ji Mao (City Wall Earth) is better; Bing Chen and Ding Si (Sand Earth) require caution against clashes with the Xu or Hai directions (Qian or Xun).
When encountering Great驿 Earth, if accompanied by Chou Earth (mountain), it can mitigate inauspiciousness; without Chou, it tends to lead to漂泊 and hardship; Roadside Earth叠加 with the death and tomb positions, if appearing in both the day and hour pillars, indicates timidity of will; among Roof Earth, Ren Wu meeting Ding Hai (Ding-Ren合化木 🌿) is auspicious, while Bing Xu is secondary.
Water conditions: Well Spring, Long Flow, Great溪, and Stream Below waters are all beneficial, especially if combined with transformations (e.g., Ding-Ren transforming into wood). However, Bing Wu and Ding Wei (Heavenly River Water 🔥) represent true fire, and Wu and Wei themselves belong to fire, making Willow Wood prone to withering when encountering them. Ren Wu meeting this is extremely inauspicious, while Gui Wei can slightly rely on water to缓解.
Fire phenomena ⚠️: This wood inherently carries fire nature in Wu and Wei; encountering other fires can easily shorten lifespan. Lamp Flame Fire (Yi Si) meeting windy wood may lead to breakage and early夭; Stove Fire (Yin Mao) is反而 auspicious due to wood's vigor; among霹雳 Fire, Ren Wu meeting Ji Chou (Chou as Gen Mountain ⛰) and Gui Wei meeting Wu Zi (balancing yin and yang), paired with a sandy soil foundation, can indicate nobility, but Zi-Wu or Chou-Wei clashes破局.
Metal energy: Metal inherently overcomes wood, but Hairpin Gold and Gold Foil Gold反而 become decorative beauty; Sea Gold, White Wax Gold, Sword Tip Gold, and Sand Gold are mostly忌, requiring结合 with禄 and贵神煞 for judgment. Meeting Pine and Cypress Wood allows "transcending the body and transforming the spirit," turning weakness into strength, indicating nobility.
Other woods: Mulberry Wood (Gui Chou as mountain) can倚傍 to form a forest, which is auspicious; Geng Shen and Xin You (Pomegranate Wood) meeting death and exhaustion with metal克 indicates hardship.
Special patterns:
1️⃣ Flower Red Willow禄 Pattern: Those born in spring or summer meeting Pomegranate Wood do not fall into poverty or低贱.
2️⃣ Willow拖 Gold Pattern: Born in spring with hour pillar carrying metal (e.g., Xin Hai, Jia Zi, Gui Mao, Xin Si), as Ren禄 is in Hai and Gui禄 is in Zi, obtaining metal-water相生 is most excellent ⚡.
The core of Willow Wood命 lies in pliability and adaptability:
| Classical Concept | Modern Mapping |
|---|---|
| Sandy soil as foundation | Requires stable career or professional skills ⛰ |
| Yin Mao east gaining ground | Expanding into new fields (e.g., culture/education) |
| Death/tomb meeting fire | High-pressure work易 leading to physical/mental exhaustion 🔥 |
| Willow拖 Gold Pattern | Combining technology + creativity (e.g., design/consulting) |
The survival wisdom of Willow Wood lies in:
🌿 Pliability is not weakness—resolving rigid conflicts through迂回 means.
💧 Borrowing势 to thrive—transforming constraints into developmental opportunities (e.g., metal克 wood反而 becoming carving).
🔄 Death/tomb is not the end—Wu and Wei fire positions symbolize阶段性休整, not the终点 of life.
