Overall Meaning
This chapter focuses on the analysis of fortune for various special patterns. Most of these patterns exhibit an excessively strong energy that goes beyond the conventional cycles of the Five Elements' interactions. When ancient scholars analyzed fate, if no Wealth or Official stars were found in the Four Pillars, they often resorted to far-fetched interpretations like remote combinations or reverse clashes to forcibly identify Wealth and Official patterns. This approach, however, is not advisable🌱. The essence of fate analysis lies in the Five Elements, and even in cases of extreme patterns, there are underlying principles to follow (for details, refer to Ditian Sui Zhengyi). For patterns with excessive energy, fortune analysis generally requires following the dominant energy trend. Although specific likes and dislikes of heavenly stems and earthly branches still depend on the Four Pillars' combinations, the overarching principle of following the trend is clear🔥. Below is a brief analysis of the examples cited in this chapter:
Example: Guihai, Yimao, Yiwei, Renwu
Major Life Cycles: Jiayin, Guichou, Renzi, Xinhai, Gengxu, Jiyou
When the Day Master is Jia or Yi Wood, and the earthly branches form a combination of Haimaowei or Yinmaochen, the Quzhi Renshou Pattern is formed. This pattern exhibits extremely strong Wood energy🌳. Fortunes favor Water, Wood, and Fire to follow the energy trend, while Official and Killer (Metal) cycles are most unfavorable as they counteract the dominant energy. Wealth (Earth) cycles are also unsuitable, as Earth can produce Metal, which contradicts the dominant energy. Similar patterns include: Bing and Ding Fire meeting Yinwuxu or Siwuwei (🔥 Yan Shang Pattern), Wu and Ji Earth meeting Chenxuchouwei (⛰ Jia Se Pattern), Geng and Xin Metal meeting Sisouchou or Shenyouxu (🔨 Cong Ge Pattern), and Ren and Gui Water meeting Shenzichen or Haizichou (🌊 Run Xia Pattern). The principles of fortune analysis for these five dominant energy patterns are similar.
Core Concept 💡
The essence of special patterns lies in "following the trend," which means adhering to the natural momentum of a highly concentrated Five Element energy in the universe, rather than mechanically applying Wealth and Official standards.
Modern Interpretation 🌟
Dominant energy patterns are like top experts or extreme idealists in a specific field, with highly concentrated energy. In modern contexts, such individuals are suited for deep development in their specialized areas and should avoid dispersing their energy or forcibly switching tracks. Those with strong Wood energy are suitable for careers in culture, education, environmental protection, and creative work.
Practical Value ⚡
Philosophical Reflection 🤔
Dominant energy patterns embody a philosophy of "extreme purity"—achieving extraordinary success by maximizing a specific trait, while maintaining balance to avoid obsession.
Example: Jiaxu, Dingmao, Renyin, Jiachen
Major Life Cycles: Wuchen, Jisi, Gengwu, Xinwei, Renshen, Guiyou
Ding and Ren combine to transform into Wood, born in spring, with the hour pillar's Jiachen revealing strong Wood energy, forming the Wood Transformation Pattern🌱. Transformation patterns favor cycles where the transformed energy is strong (e.g., in this case, Yinmaochen Wood cycles). Official and Killer (Metal) cycles that counteract the transformed energy are most unfavorable. The Day Master's original energy (e.g., Ren Water encountering Haizichou Water cycles) is generally unfavorable, but nuances exist: if the transformed energy is Wood, Water cycles that produce Wood are actually favorable. However, if Jia and Ji transform into Earth, Wood cycles that counteract Earth are highly unfavorable⚡. Transformation patterns include Jia-Ji transforming into Earth, Yi-Geng transforming into Metal, Bing-Xin transforming into Water, Ding-Ren transforming into Wood, and Wu-Gui transforming into Fire. The principles of fortune analysis are similar.
Core Concept 💡
Transformation patterns represent the conversion and fusion of Five Element energy, symbolizing a phenomenon of "metamorphosis" and "rebirth" in fate analysis.
Modern Interpretation 🌟
Individuals with transformation patterns are adaptable and skilled at role-shifting and ability migration. In modern society, this trait suits careers requiring cross-disciplinary integration and adaptability, such as project management, consulting, and跨界 artists.
Practical Value ⚡
Example 1: Wuwu, Wuwu, Wuwu, Wuwu
Major Life Cycles: Jiwei, Gengshen, Xinyou, Renxu, Guihai, Jiazi
This configuration features Fire and Earth forming an image, with energy偏向 Fire and Earth, making it a Cong Wang Pattern🔥. It favors Metal cycles that泄 Earth's energy (e.g., Gengchen, Xinchou, etc., damp Earth Metal cycles). However, the excessive Fire and dry Earth create an imbalanced state, requiring Earth with Water to regulate. Water cycles are like a drop in the bucket and may bring disaster⚡. Wood cycles counteract Earth and intensify Fire, making them unsuitable. The saying "reverse clash most fears filling the void" refers to this.
Example 2: Jiayin, Gengwu, Bingwu, Jiawu
Major Life Cycles: Xinwei, Renshen, Guiyou, Jiaxu, Yihai, Bingzi
Geng Metal has no root, and energy偏向 Wood and Fire, forming the Yan Shang Pattern🔥. Earth cycles that泄 Fire's energy are most suitable, following the same principle as the Quzhi Renshou Pattern.
Core Concept 💡
Reverse clash patterns represent an "extremely concentrated" energy mode, requiring balance through顺势疏导 rather than direct confrontation.
Modern Interpretation 🌟
Such individuals are like highly focused entrepreneurs or innovators with powerful energy that needs proper guidance. In modern applications, they are suited for work requiring intense concentration and passion but must balance their energy to avoid burnout.
Practical Value ⚡
Example: Wuchen, Xinyou, Xinyou, Wuzi
Major Life Cycles: Renxu, Guihai, Jiazi, Yichou, Bingyin, Dingmao
This is a Metal-Water Injury Officer pattern, with no Official star in the original configuration, and energy偏向 Metal and Water⚪️. It favors Earth, Metal, and Water cycles that follow its nature and dislikes Fire cycles. Wood with Water is acceptable, but Wood with Fire is unsuitable. This is commonly called the Chaoyang Pattern.
Core Concept 💡
The Metal-Water Injury Officer pattern combines wisdom and冷静, requiring its pure characteristics to remain undisturbed.
Modern Interpretation 🌟
Such individuals often possess artistic talent, technical expertise, or academic research abilities, suited for fields requiring精密 thinking and innovative expression. In modern society, they are适合 for scientific research, technology development, and artistic creation.
Example 1: Jiwei, Wuchen, Wuchen, Gengshen
Major Life Cycles: Dingmao, Bingyin, Yichou, Jiazi, Guihai, Renxu
This is an Earth-Metal Food God pattern, with numerous比劫, and energy偏向 Earth and Metal⛰️. It most favors Metal cycles that泄 Earth's energy, and Water cycles are also favorable. Fire cycles are unfavorable, and Wood cycles are also unsuitable (excessive Earth breaks Wood). It is commonly said that Geng combines with Yi to form an Official star, called the Helu Pattern, which favors Wealth to produce it. The fortune analysis is大致 similar.
Example 2: Jiyou, Xinwei, Guiwei, Gengshen
Major Life Cycles: Gengwu, Jisi, Wuchen, Dingmao, Bingyin, Yichou
This is also called the Helu Pattern, with Shen combining with Si's hidden Wu Earth to form an Official star. The Monthly Pillar has a偏官, which is revealed in the year, and the hour pillar's Geng Seal transforms the Killer into a useful element, making the pattern clear and upright. If the Wu Earth Official star in Si is taken, it反而 becomes a mixed Official-Killer pattern.
Core Concept 💡
The Helu Pattern achieves the effect of simulating an Official star through special stem-branch combinations, reflecting the dialectical relationship between "virtual" and "real" in fate analysis.
Modern Interpretation 🌟
Such individuals often achieve status and success through non-traditional means, suited for emerging industries or跨界 fields. Modern society values practical skills over traditional qualifications, providing more opportunities for such patterns.
Example: Gengshen, Yiyou, Bingshen, Jichou
Major Life Cycles: Bingxu, Dinghai, Wuzi, Jichou, Gengyin, Xinmao
Yi follows Geng's transformation and is not considered a Seal. Bing Fire is in a weakened state at Shen, with no root in the Four Pillars, and the hour pillar's Jichou further produces Metal, making energy偏向 Metal dominance, forming the Abandon Life to Follow Wealth Pattern💰. It favors Earth, Metal, and Water cycles and most dislikes Southern Fire cycles. Wood cycles are also unfavorable.
Core Concept 💡
Cong patterns embody the wisdom of "following the trend." When one's own energy is extremely weak, completely submitting to the dominant force can bring vitality.
Modern Interpretation 🌟
Such individuals possess strong adaptability and resource integration skills in modern society, suited for finance, trade, resource management, and other fields. The key is to recognize the situation and find reliable support or platforms.
Practical Value ⚡
Example: Yiyou, Yiyou, Yiyou, Jiashen
Major Life Cycles: Jiashen, Guiwei, Renwu, Xinsi, Gengchen, Jimao
Yi Wood has no root, and energy偏向 Metal, forming the Abandon Life to Follow Killer Pattern⚔️. Metal cycles are most favorable, and Water and Earth cycles are also auspicious. Wood cycles, where Yi Wood gains root, and Fire cycles, which counteract the dominant energy, are highly unfavorable. The principles of fortune analysis are similar to the Congcai Pattern.
Core Concept 💡
The Congsha Pattern embodies the wisdom of "overcoming hardness with softness," surviving and developing through submission and transformation under intense pressure.
Modern Interpretation 🌟
Such individuals often excel in high-pressure environments, suited for disciplined forces, highly competitive industries, or management in large organizations. The key is to correctly identify true authority and power.
Example: Wuzi, Gengshen, Gengshen, Gengchen
Major Life Cycles: Xinyou, Renxu, Guihai, Jiazi, Yichou, Bingyin
This is commonly called the Jinglancha Pattern. Geng Metal, in a strong state, expresses talent, with the branches forming a Shenzichen Water combination🌊. Energy偏向 Metal and Water, so fortune analysis should follow the trend. Earth, Metal, and Water cycles are favorable, Wood cycles are acceptable, but Fire cycles counteract the dominant energy and are unfavorable.
Core Concept 💡
The Jinglancha Pattern showcases wisdom and talent through the flow of Metal producing Water, requiring保持 this flow channel unobstructed.
Modern Interpretation 🌟
Such individuals often possess technical talent or artistic creativity, suited for work combining精密 calculation and creative expression, such as engineering design, architecture, and system analysis.
Example 1: Xinchou, Xinchou, Xinchou, Gengyin
Major Life Cycles: Gengzi, Jihai, Wuxu, Dingyou, Bingshen, Yiwei
This is commonly called the Chou Remote Si Pattern. Earth and Metal form a combination, born in the twelfth month, with the hour pillar's Yin Wood lacking energy and unable to be used. Energy偏向 Earth and Metal, favoring Earth, Metal, and Water cycles. Wood and Fire cycles counteract the dominant energy and are unsuitable.
Example 2: Yiwei, Guimao, Guimao, Jiayin
Major Life Cycles: Renyin, Xinchou, Gengzi, Jihai, Wuxu, Dingyou
The Xiji Pian states, "Gui Day Master meeting Yin position, fears Wu and Ji in the year and month," using Yin to punish out the hidden Wu Earth in Si to form the pattern, which is actually a Cong'er Pattern🔄. Energy偏向 Wood, favoring Wood and Fire cycles. Cong patterns generally dislike比劫, but the Cong'er Pattern has Food and Injury to guide and transform, making比劫 acceptable, which is its unique feature. Official and Killer cycles are highly unfavorable, and Seal cycles are also disliked.
Example 3: Jiashen, Jiaxu, Jiazi, Jiazi
Major Life Cycles: Yihai, Bingzi, Dingchou, Wuyin, Jimao, Gengchen
The Xiji Pian states, "Jiazi Day Master meeting Zi hour, fears Geng, Xin, Shen, You, Chou, Wu," using Zi to remotely combine with Si to form the pattern. In reality, the Monthly Pillar has偏财, using Wealth to damage the Seal, so no additional pattern is needed. Xu hides Ding Fire, which produces the Wealth star. When the cycle reveals it clearly, it is favorable. Geng, Xin, Shen, and You Official-Killer cycles produce the Seal and are unfavorable. Wu clashes with Zi, and Chou punishes Xu, both of which are unfavorable.
Core Concept 💡
The Yaohe Pattern achieves a "long-distance呼应" effect through special connections between earthly branches, reflecting the dialectical relationship between "virtual" and "real," "far" and "near" in fate analysis.
Modern Interpretation 🌟
Such individuals often possess foresight and跨界 thinking, suited for work requiring前瞻性 and a global perspective, such as strategic planning, investment analysis, and international business.

Summary: The core of fortune analysis for special patterns lies in "following the trend," accurately judging the direction of Five Element energy bias, and determining favorable and unfavorable fortunes. In modern applications, these principles should be flexibly applied结合 contemporary social environments and individual实际情况, avoiding mechanical application of ancient standards🌱.
