The Four-Line Solo Step mentions: The Tian Yuan Yi Qi Pattern refers to a configuration where all Heavenly Stems are identical and all Earthly Branches are also exactly the same. If such a pattern appears in a person's birth chart, it often indicates high status and authority, potentially even reaching the rank of San Gong (the highest official position in ancient times) 🌟.
An older annotation adds: For example, the birth chart of Zhou Yigong, with the stem-branch combination Geng Chen, Geng Chen, Geng Chen, Geng Chen, fits this pattern. Other examples, such as four Ren Yin or four Gui Hai, generally indicate wealth and nobility; however, four Xin Mao may lead to poverty and a short lifespan 😔. Additionally, the pattern of four Jia Xu, while indicating intelligence and cleverness, may also lead to the loss of family fortune. If the luck cycle enters a Fire phase (a period dominated by the Fire element), the situation may improve slightly, but ultimately, it remains difficult to achieve great success 🔥.
Furthermore, there are several related patterns:
An ancient verse says: Wealth and nobility originate from the marvel of Heavenly Stem sequential nourishment; the pattern of Earthly Branch arching is rarely understood. When two stems are unmixed and in proper order, nobility is indicated; the Pure Qi Generation pattern is extremely rare in the world 💎.
Examples from the old Compendium Essentials annotation:
A supplementary note points out: The original Compendium Essentials wrote "all Gui Chou," but the Pattern Explanations mistakenly changed it to "all Gui Hai," which is incorrect. Because the year and month are Gui Hai, while the day and hour are Gui Chou, and both stems and branches belong to the Northern Water region, the energy is pure and unmixed, hence it is called the Pure Qi Generation Pattern. If all were Gui Hai, it would be the Tian Yuan Yi Qi Pattern. These two patterns are largely similar but with minor differences; however, since the Tian Yuan Yi Qi Pattern has already been discussed above, it should not be repeated here.
Another supplementary note: Referring to the Five Star Guide, the Two Stems Unmixed Pattern is actually the Linked Pearl Pattern, also known as the Two Stems Linked Pearl Pattern. For example, Minister Wu's birth chart: Jia Zi year, Yi Hai month, Jia Zi day, Yi Chou hour; or Geng Chen, Xin Si, Geng Chen, Xin Si, both exemplify this pattern. The Solo Step states: "The eight characters are linked pearls, the three spirits are useful," precisely referring to this. Some mistakenly change it to "two spirits useful" or "branch spirits useful," which is incorrect.
The core idea of the Tian Yuan Yi Qi Pattern and its variants (such as the Sequential Nourishment Pattern, Arch Formation Pattern, etc.) is that the purity, sequential order, and harmony of the stems and branches in a birth chart are seen as symbols of nobility. The ancients believed that such "pure" or "ordered" configurations reflect the essence of Heaven and Earth's energy, capable of bringing extraordinary fortune and status.
In a modern context, these patterns can be understood as special configurations in personal fate analysis, similar to "innate talent" or "natural advantage." For example:
These patterns deeply reflect the ancient Chinese philosophical views of "harmony" and "order"—the universe seeks balance and purity. The Pure Qi Generation Pattern emphasizes "purity without mixture," metaphorically highlighting the modern value of staying true to one's初心 (initial intent) and focus. The Sequential Nourishment Pattern embodies the ecological thinking of "mutual generation and support," reminding us to prioritize collaboration and nurturing in relationships and work. Essentially, this is the ancients' personified interpretation of natural laws, inspiring us to contemplate how to achieve harmony with our environment and ourselves.
