Chapter 22 of 86
Yuan Hai Zi Ping — The Deep Sea of Zi Ping
The Seven Killings, also known as Partial Authority, favor a strong Day Master that can harmonize the Killing, effective controlling methods (such as the Seal Star or the Eating-Hurting combination), and encountering the Blade Edge (Rob Wealth to strengthen the body). They dislike a weak Day Master, Wealth Stars that nourish the Killing, and lack of control 🔥. When the body is strong and rooted, it manifests as Partial Authority (auspicious), but when the body is weak and uncontrolled, it becomes the Seven Killings (inauspicious). The presence of the Seven Killings does not necessarily mean complete misfortune—it can sometimes be more powerful than the Direct Authority, easily producing great wealth and nobility 🌰. The key lies in a strong body harmonizing the Killing.
For example, the Day Master of Wood甲 (Jia) takes Metal庚 (Geng) as the Seven Killings and favors Fire丙丁 (Bing-Ding) to control it. If Wood乙 (Yi) harmonizes with Metal庚 (Geng), it results in "infatuation with harmony forgetting the Killing" (weakening its inauspicious nature). The Seven Killings require control but should not be over-controlled (extremes invite reversal ⚖️). A strong body during prosperous luck brings blessings, while a weak body during unfavorable luck invites disaster 🌪️. If the natal chart has controlling mechanisms, the Seven Killings luck is favorable; without control, the appearance of the Killing brings calamity. A strong body encountering the Blade Edge leads to great nobility, but it dislikes excessive Wealth (Wealth nourishes the Killing)—encountering such in annual or major luck, a strong body faces many disasters, and a weak body suffers even more.
Those born on days like Jia-Shen (甲申) or Yi-You (乙酉) carry the Seven Killings and tend to be impulsive, sharp-witted, and clever 🧠. Excessive Seven Killings indicate misfortune, early demise, poverty, or insignificance. The Seven Killings in the Month Pillar have a strong impact, while those in the Hour Pillar have a lighter effect. The Day Pillar should ideally have only one Seven Killing; reappearance in the Year or Hour Pillar requires control and a strong body. The worst scenarios involve clashes or stimulation by the Blade Edge, which are highly inauspicious ⛔. A single Seven Killing in the Hour Pillar does not fear the Blade Edge or clashes. If the Year, Month, and Hour Pillars all have control mechanisms, it brings fortune, and prosperous Killing luck or Triple Harmony in favorable locations leads to success. Without control, one must rely on controlling luck; otherwise, disaster arises.
The Seven Killings represent pressure and challenges, requiring "restraint and transformation" to become a noble pattern. The key lies in dynamic balance: a strong body can harness the Killing as authority, while a weak body is crushed by it. Insufficient control leads to danger, while excessive control dulls its edge.
The Seven Killings reveal the dialectical view that "crisis is opportunity": no pressure, no growth ⚖️, but one must act within their means. Extremes invite reversal, warning modern people against overwork—excessive control is like excessive complacency, stifling breakthrough potential.
