This is because the initial transmission, Chen added to Zi as Xuan, makes Zi the river. The Chen Earth above overcomes it, hence shallow. He will assume office in the twelfth month, for on a Jia day, Zi adds to Shen—Zi being the twelfth month's Great Yin, now positioned at Shen, thus indicating the twelfth month.

Indeed, the documents arrived that very day; after the Abbot completed the handover, he went to thank the prefecture and on the way the lintel pillar of the entrance gate toppled, leaving him with a disabled arm resulting from the injury.

Master Shao's Judgment: This lesson indicates illness with heat above and cold below. Though there is heat above the diaphragm, there is no thirst. In the middle, wind-qi strikes in conflict; the lower part is obstructed. Eating cold salted things injures the lungs, manifesting in wheezing above and obstruction below. Now, one should supplement the lungs and free the intestines. Consequently: the child once had a home placement in a temple that was never formally fulfilled—(of the spiritual pact ) —therefore presently a new nominal lodging in a temple can avert disaster but in the end he will be weakened—after the twenty-first year resembling an old man, withered skin and thin frame as if consumptive; he cannot surmount the twenty-eighth year.

Later indeed: the child showed heat above and cold below having eaten cold preserved fish soup with hemp ginseng. After an attempt at nominal placement, by and by he became unwell—often anxious and fearful with continuing decline. He was sent to dwell with his maternal grandfather’s household; progressively thinner; never married—succumbing on the third day of the fourth month of the sixteenth year of Shaoxing at exactly twenty-eight.
