Yang governs genesis and expansion, yin governs fulfillment and culmination—one opens, the other closes, neither dispensable.
Yang virtue manifests as form; yin virtue manifests as position — The function of yang is expressed through visible "appearances" (shape, radiance, movement), while the function of yin is expressed through traceable "positions" (location, structure, space). Yang endows things with expressive power; yin provides things with their footing ⛰.
The Earth has four configurations; qi flows from eight directions — The Earth itself possesses four fundamental topographic structures (seat, orientation, elevation, depression), while qi currents converge and circulate from all eight directions (east, south, west, north, southeast, northeast, southwest, northwest) 🌬.
