Ancient verses mention that individuals with the "Golden White, Water Clear" pattern are often suited for attaining scholarly honors and succeeding in imperial examinations🌱. The specific manifestation of this pattern is: the Day Master is born on a Geng Shen (庚申) or Xin You (辛酉) day, during an autumn month (e.g., Shen month, You month), and the hour pillar encounters a Hai (亥) or Zi (子) hour🌊, representing the water element. Metal symbolizes white🔥, water symbolizes clarity🌊. If the Eight Characters (Bazi) lack destructive factors such as Clash (冲), Harm (害), Break (破), or Punishment (刑), it indicates wealth, nobility, and prosperity.
It is crucial not to be born in summer🌞, otherwise, one does not enter this pattern. If born in the second or third month of spring (Yin month, Mao month), and the luck cycle moves to the northwest direction (e.g., Xu, Hai directions), one may barely qualify for this pattern.
For example, days like Geng Chen (庚辰), Geng Zi (庚子), Gui Si (癸巳), Gui You (癸酉), or Gui Chou (癸丑), born in autumn or winter months, with no Fire🔥 to harm or Earth⛰ to restrict, and where the Metal and Water elements are balanced and form a configuration, also conform to this pattern.
A verse praises: "Golden clear, water white brings wealth and honor, literary talent elegant and surely outstanding; if devoid of Fire-Earth punishment or restriction, fame shines within the Hanlin Academy🎓."
The "Golden White, Water Clear" pattern emphasizes the purity and balance of the Metal🌬 and Water🌊 elements in the Five Elements theory: Metal represents resilience and wisdom, Water symbolizes flow and talent. When these two are free from interference by impure energies (such as punishment or restriction from Fire or Earth), a noble pattern is formed, foretelling scholarly achievement and cultural aptitude, reflecting the ancient concept of the "harmony between heaven and humanity."
In modern society, this pattern can be understood as the alignment of personal talent with environment:
This pattern reveals the philosophy that "balance is success": the mutual generation of Metal and Water embodies the synergy between resources (Metal) and opportunities (Water), rather than fatalism. In a modern context, it encourages realizing potential through self-awareness and environmental adaptation, not passively awaiting "good fortune." Simultaneously, it warns against over-reliance on external conditions (e.g., season), emphasizing the importance of subjective initiative.
