【本家食神】
谓如甲食丙、甲子人见丙子之类是也,得此者非大富,即大贵,月不如日,日不如时,若互换生旺带禄贵者,无不贵显。如韩魏公,戊申年、庚甲月、庚辰日、庚辰时、秦太师庚午年、己丑月、乙卯日、壬午时,如倒食在本家者,亦贵,张全真,甲子年,见壬子时,吴挺庚子年,见戊子时也。
一名隔十三食神,古诗云:论命先论隔十三,命中带得入朝参,金鱼束带浑闲事,若见魁星定面南。甲辰、丁未、庚戌、癸丑四位为真魁星,如汪状元戊戌,见庚戌时,是见魁星也。
【食合印】
甲人见丙辛、乙人见丁壬、丙人见戊癸、丁人见己甲、戊人见庚乙、己人见辛丙、庚人见壬丁、辛人见癸戊、壬人见甲己、癸人见乙庚。

墨池涌出金泉格食神生是
墨池涌出金泉水,辛巳生逢癸巳傍,灿烂文章如锦绣,高攀仙桂紫薇郎。
如陈朝议辛巳年、壬辰月、癸巳日、癸亥时是也。如丙寅爱戊寅、戊申爱庚申、己巳爱辛亥、庚午爱壬申、甲戌爱丙寅、壬辰爱甲申,余皆彷此。
【红鸾天印格】
红鸾天印在生时四库之中多不移,君子命逢于吉兆,荣华富贵一生奇,法曰:丙逢戊戌是,辛得癸丑奇,壬遇甲辰好,乙见丁未时,命坐日时得,官品日迁移。
如石参政命,壬申年、己酉月、甲辰日、丙寅时、壬食甲、壬水墓在辰是也。(并紫虚局)
【三台格】
甲乙食丙丁,加寅卯巳午之上、丙丁食戊己,加辰戌丑未之上、戊己食庚辛,加巳午申酉之上、庚辛食壬癸,加申酉亥子之上、壬癸食甲乙,加亥子寅卯之上,谓食神见生旺者是也。若食神带禄马旺相,文谓两制相省,武为建节防团,亦无财帛重权。(鬼谷要诀)
十干以隔一位为食神何也,希尹曰:甲己化土,故食丙辛、丙辛化水,故食戊癸;戊癸化火,故食庚乙;庚乙化金,故食壬丁;壬丁化木,故食甲己,食者如虫之食物,伤之也。虫得物食则饱,故得食则吉,被食则损,甲一物如遇丁壬,两物见食者,尤费力。或以倒食为喜神何也,曰:遇独干而无气者也,丙见甲木,反以生火,十干皆然,二者须要看纳音有无克制,如甲子金见丙寅火,虽顺食,安得为奇,庚戌金见戊申土,虽云倒食,有何不可,未可以一概论。
以子成而致食,谓如甲食丙,乙食丁,甲乙乃丙丁火之父母也,故为食神,如人子致养于父母之道也。(烛神经)
食神者,十干福禄之会,君子得之显达,丰瞻、小人得之周旋给足,在福聚之地,则官崇禄厚,在祸聚之地,则职卑命薄,以甲子论之,食丙子为福星之贵,丙寅为长生之禄,又为禄马同乡食神学堂福生之贵,丙辰为正印,丙午为自刑破命,丙申为克身破禄,丙戌为身衰空亡,若遇生、旺、库、印、天乙、天官、华盖、文星、学堂、官印、禄马之类,为福聚之地,遇克破空亡恶杀、刑官、休败、死绝之地,为祸聚,然有华盖、正印、虽少、倍增。无学堂驿马虽多减半,清贵之家,骄贵之族,亦以此别之。(阎东叟书)

【不喜顺食例】
如甲子见丙寅,死金逢绝地,却见生火,安得为奇。
【不畏倒食例】
己亥不畏丁倒食,丁壬丑合化木,而壬禄在亥也。丙午不畏甲倒食,甲与己合,而巳禄在午也。乙巳不畏癸倒食,戊癸化火,乙巳亦火也。癸巳不畏辛倒食,丙辛化水,而丙禄在巳也。六庚人惟庚戌最喜戊子火,故六庚不畏倒食,诸书皆云:庚戌金最喜戊子火,庚为众阳之首,喜戊子火,故六庚不畏倒食,见戊做喜神。
二仪开辟五行次序,则十干生马,首生巳土在西南坤方,则地之余气之源也,然后巳生辛、辛生癸、癸生乙、乙生丁、丁归源,故丁乃倒食己,乃子归母位,是阴气散发,一同复本之气,故六己人最喜丁火倒食,呼作喜神。假令己巳年、丁卯月、甲申日、丁卯时、用丁为喜神,甲生丁火,丁火旺,则己巳人喜神全借,又丁至卯真木,作己禄官、极盛,又己巳木,旺于卯,上下人使用,故入翰林学士,假令己巳年,丁卯月、癸亥日、壬子时、壬助癸,癸克丁之喜神,不成贵气,虽遇喜神,不佳也,故有名而无实。次生庚,乃天之余气,惟庚为了众阳之首,然后生壬、壬生甲、甲生丙、丙生戊、戊复归庚祖,故六庚人不使倒食,用戊作善神,如庚寅年、戊寅月、丁未日、庚子时、己巳胎,是命专得戊土为用,又入寅上子上戊土旺,喜神得地,又丁生戊土,丁戊己庚连珠,但丁下又见庚气,稍逆,木气亦弱,只得太尉,若丁下更一字得用,须两府也,如庚寅年、戊寅月、辛酉日,被辛酉日杂坏戊寅土,又气太弱,若得好,只薄薄之福,余依次推之。又云:己不畏丁归源之数,己不倒食辛阴气初发散之源,庚不畏戊阳气归源之数,庚不倒食壬,阳气初散之源,辛不畏丁,为丁养育金也,况有丁处,便有己土,阴阳干涉得清福之助,故六辛人切要丁,但从寅遁至辛人本禄位,方知用丁为禄,更自是金家,己上火里长生,故知要火为富贵,金无父母,借火处有父母之气。(天元变化书)

【倒食或好或恶】
古人立倒食者,有深旨焉,但后学便以为枭神之毒或言君子有兵刑之理,且如壬以庚为倒食,却生在四月、七月、八月、十二月,岂得直言不好,其祸自祸、福自福,各有所归,假令位居高品,或一旦有愆,而遭极刑,此之谓也。(神白经)
子返哺时逢子建,更值贵人喜相见,建官又在贵人乡,凤阁鸾台历华选。
返哺者返食也,年月日时皆自下食上,须见天乙贵神官印,吉杀方贵。(理愚歌)
食神嫌倒,争啜争哺,忽併临之,乏浆乏乳,有余,则食前方丈,不足,则簟食豆羹。
犯倒食在命者,多被人挠,重迭带得者,在初幼儿则言其乏乳,正食而有余者,富贵。争食者衣食不足,假令甲人得二丙三丙,乃有余,三甲二甲止有一丙者,乃不足。(壶中子)
【倒合类】倒食见合是
甲人见壬丁、己人见丁壬、乙人见癸戊、庚人见戊癸、丙人见甲己、辛人见己甲、丁人见乙庚、壬人见庚乙、戊人见丙辛、癸人见辛丙。
以上官鬼相伤,公立庶几。
凡生时干倒食年干者,主克子,日时俱食,主头面带破,并克母,身死后无子送也。(广信)
【重吞群虎每兴嗟】
群虎格,吞中逢吞也,倒食神曰吞,且如甲人见壬日时,又逢字,曰重吞,主多贫穷死沟壑之命,惟恐干合解之,且如甲人逢壬庚,乙人逢癸辛是,如甲见壬寅、或带乙来,乙或带甲来,终又缓矣。(沉芝源髓)
Overall Paraphrased Meaning
Shi Shen is a crucial concept in Eight Characters (Bazi) metaphysics. It refers to the element produced by the Day Master. For example, if the Day Master is Jia Wood (甲木), and it produces Bing Fire (丙火), then Bing Fire is the Shi Shen of Jia Wood. Shi Shen represents talent, blessings, and enjoyment. If well-positioned and supported, it signifies wealth and nobility; if poorly placed or suppressed, its positive influence diminishes and may even turn unfavorable.
Shi Shen is the "Star of Blessings and Prosperity," symbolizing innate talent, creativity, and the enjoyment of life. Its auspiciousness or inauspiciousness depends on its position (year, month, day, or hour pillar), the strength of its elemental phase, and whether it is supported by auspicious stars like Lu (Prosperity), Ma (Horse), or Guiren (Noble Person). The Hour Pillar Shi Shen is the most powerful, followed by the Month Pillar and then the Day Pillar. Additionally, the complex influence of "Inverted Eating" (i.e., Partial Seal) must be considered—it can be favorable or unfavorable depending on the context and requires comprehensive judgment.
The Shi Shen pattern embodies the I Ching principle of "endless growth": what I produce is Shi Shen and Shang Guan, symbolizing the extension and creativity of life force. Its transformation between auspicious and inauspicious reveals the truth that "fortune and misfortune are intertwined." In favorable times, guard against arrogance and extravagance (excessive Shi Shen); in adversity, opportunities may hide (favorable Inverted Eating).
