This chapter elaborates on the calculation method of "According to Liang's Three-Pass Method" and the rules of "Triangulation and Opposition of Malefic Stars" in astrological fate analysis. 🌌 By integrating celestial positions, degrees, and time cycles, it predicts life’s critical phases (early, middle, and late passes) and the influence of malefic stars to forecast fortune and misfortune. The content includes specific calculation examples and mnemonic verses to aid scholars in understanding its application.
For example: A fate operating in the Zi limit, with the cyclical year of Jiazi, is calculated based on the degrees of the Zi palace’s constellation. Two degrees and three cycles correspond to one year: Jiazi year traverses the 12th and 11th degrees of Wei; Yichou year traverses the 10th and 9th degrees of Wei; Bingyin year traverses the 8th, 7th, and 6th degrees of Wei. The rest follow the same pattern. If there are conjunctions, oppositions, malefic influences,仇星 (vengeful stars), or fills and clashes at the head or tail of the pass, as well as煞 (malefic influences) such as Tianjin or hidden metal, minor issues may involve legal disputes or setbacks, while major issues may lead to death (the body belongs to Beimang). Careful calculation proves highly accurate. 🔥
The calculation method for the first one or two years is the same, but differences in depth become apparent after the third or fourth year. With this example, scholars can easily understand.
The section on the triangulation and opposition of malefic stars is summarized in mnemonic verses:
For example: If the life is established in the Zi palace, at the fourth degree of Nü Tu Fu (Girl Earth Bat), and Jupiter is the malefic star. The natal Jupiter is in the Xu palace at the eighth degree of Kui. At the age of ten, the child limit ends, and the person steps into the world. At twelve, they pass the Chou limit; at twenty, they pass the Yin limit. Yin, Wu, and Xu form a triple combination, with the natal Jupiter as the malefic star. Yin is the Fortune palace, calculated as one year for every three degrees. Counting from the third degree of Wei in the Xu palace to the eighth degree of Kui, a total of 24 degrees, calculated as eight years. At twenty-one, passing Yin, adding eight years, totals twenty-nine years. Thus, at nineteen, the malefic star is invoked. Next, at thirty-two, passing the Mao limit; at forty-seven, passing the Chen limit. Chen and Xu oppose each other, and the previous Jupiter malefic star reappears. Chen is the Travel palace, calculated as one year for every 4.5 degrees: counting from the third degree of Wei in the Xu palace to the eighth degree of Kui, a total of five years (as each year corresponds to 4.5 degrees). At forty-seven, passing Chen, adding five years, totals fifty-two years, again invoking the Jupiter malefic star. Fortune or misfortune is determined accordingly. The triangulation and opposition for invoking malefic influences are calculated accurately this way. Other fate examples follow the same pattern. Oppositions such as Zi-Wu-Mao-You; triangulations such as Shen-Zi-Chen; oppositions such as Zi-Wu. 🌊
The core of this chapter lies in the astrological fate analysis system of pass calculation and malefic star influence. By combining astronomical constellation degrees with celestial positions, life is divided into different passes (early, middle, and late), and the concept of "malefic stars" (inauspicious stars) is introduced. Through the phase relationships of triangulation and opposition (triple combinations and oppositions), life’s misfortunes and fortunes are predicted. This reflects the ancient philosophy of the unity of heaven and humanity, closely linking cosmic operations with personal destiny.
In a modern context, this system can be seen as a risk warning model. Based on ancient astronomical observations and accumulated data, it uses degrees to simulate the passage of time and celestial phenomena to symbolize potential challenges. For example:
This system is deeply rooted in the balance between ancient determinism and free will. Celestial settings define "passes," but human calculation can "invoke" adjustments—implying that destiny has both fixed and variable elements. In modern terms, this encourages us to accept uncontrollable factors (e.g., environmental risks) while optimizing outcomes through cognition and action (e.g., careful analysis in calculations). Ultimately, it emphasizes the wisdom of observation, calculation, and reflection, rather than passive acceptance.
