Overall Meaning
The Year Pillar in the Bazi chart governs ancestral foundations 🌳. If it carries Wealth or Official stars, it often indicates illustrious ancestors. The Month Pillar represents siblings and the parental palace; if it is dominated by Officer or Killing stars, it often suggests weak bonds or conflicts among siblings. If the Year Pillar is seated in a position of Wealth, Official, or Noble Horse, it naturally signifies honor and prominence. However, if it is occupied by Robbery or Conflict stars, ancestral support may be lacking. If the Month Pillar is dominated by Officer or Killing stars, it can harm siblings—because the Sibling Star (Robbery Star) is suppressed by Officer/Killing stars, leading to separation. As the saying goes, "Officer and Killing at the gate shorten siblings' lives"—heavy Officer/Killing in the gateway (Month Pillar) often means siblings struggle to coexist. However, if the Day Master is strong and Robbery stars are abundant, it may instead indicate many siblings (like geese flying in formation), though too many Robbery stars can also lead to conflicts over resources (like the stars Shen and Shang, which never meet).
Partial Wealth represents the father; excessive Robbery or Conflict stars can harm the father relationship. The Proper Seal represents the mother; an overly strong Seal star may instead harm the mother. Officer and Killing stars represent children, but if Food and Injury stars are too few while Officer/Killing stars are too heavy, they can suppress the Day Master and hinder childbirth—only when Food and Injury stars control the Killing star can offspring be obtained. This applies to both male and female charts. If a female chart has strong Wealth and Official stars but a weak Day Master, it often signifies bringing prosperity to the husband’s family at the expense of the maternal family. While Wealth and Official stars benefit the husband, they can also harm the mother and suppress siblings.
Certain specific Day Pillars, such as Yisi and Dingsi (which conceal Wealth and Official stars), can反而 benefit the husband and children. Others, like Xinhai (concealing Proper Wealth), Wushen (concealing Injury star that harms the husband), and Jiayin (where the husband’s star is in a barren position), require detailed analysis of the Ten Gods combinations and potential remedies. If the Bazi chart contains all four Earthly Branches Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei (representing heavy Tomb storage), or if the spouse/children stars enter the Tomb, it often indicates challenges for the six relatives. However, having only two of these branches is generally not problematic. In summary, analyzing the six relatives requires flexible dialectical thinking—if the Bazi has a "disease" (unfavorable gods), finding the "remedy" (favorable gods) can反而 improve the six relatives' fortune.
The theory of the six relatives is essentially a systematic game of "star-palace interplay":
Note: This chapter emphasizes the "disease-remedy theory"—unfavorable gods in the Bazi are the "disease," while favorable gods are the "remedy." Defects in the six relatives can be improved through Five Elements adjustment and mental transformation.
