Capítulo 12 de 36
黄庭内景经
The kidney's palace, its mysterious gate and profound portal unobstructed, houses a youth (the inner pure spirit), tranquil and deep, penetrating the highest mystic realm. The kidneys govern the vital essence of the six organs, serve as the source of the nine fluids of the entire body, and correspond externally to the two ears, moistening the hundred meridians and bodily fluids.
He wears a robe of azure brocade cloud-like garments, dancing with dragon-banner banners, ascending in response to radiant glow, sun-moon and mist-like vital breath. When hundred ailments and thousand calamities descend, one should urgently hold in contemplation (focused visualization of inner landscapes) this spirit within the kidneys. The two kidneys, as the "kings of water," stand opposite the gate of life, enabling one to attain longevity and ascend beyond the nine heavens.
This chapter, centering on the kidneys as its core image, speaks of the conservation and nourishment of the fundamental vital energy of life. In the Daoist system of inner observation, the kidneys pertain to water; water governs storing, stillness, and the root of life. The "youth" within the kidneys symbolizes the innate pure yang energy or the primordial clarity inherent in every person. The text states that the kidneys govern the six organs and serve as the source of the nine fluids, emphasizing that the "primordial essence" represented by the kidneys is the fundamental driving force of all bodily functions. The two kidneys resemble two water gates; guarding the gate of life (mingmen), one's foundation can become deep-rooted and enduring.
Its core directive: Turn inward in contemplation to maintain a connection with the source of life.
In modern life, the image of the kidneys can be understood as a person's deep reserve of vitality and inner security. Many people exist in a long-term state of "dissipation"—information overload, emotional tension, insufficient sleep—which parallels the Daoist notion of "essence depletion and spirit exhaustion." The key point of this chapter is not "how to nourish the kidneys," but rather: Is someone tending to the source of your life?
"One responds externally to the two ears"—the ears govern listening. Modern people receive a deluge of sounds and information daily, yet rarely truly "listen" to their own inner being. The text suggests that kidneys and ears are connected, which can be understood as: only when one grows still this become possible; only in deep serenity can one perceive the inner murmuring water — the sounds of fatigue, desires, unease arising as signals from the palaces of the kidneys.
"when hundred ailments and thousand calamities descend, one should urgently hold in contemplation" is particularly noteworthy: it is not about rushing to medication, but first returning to the heart-mind and holding in thought one's innate purity and stillness. On a psychological level, this is equivalent to—when crisis arrives, first reconnect with an inner stabilized anchor, without being devoured by fear. This strikingly parallels the "inner safe haven" technique in modern mindfulness practice.
"Azure brocade cloud-robes danced with dragon banners, ascending through radiant twilight sun-moon mists"—the inner visualization depicts an exquisite interplay of light ascent visionary resonance, unveiling an overshadowing profundity: hidden within deepest yin lies the utmost yang (true yang holds beyond density moving uprightly beyond visible surfaces). The kidneys operate watery properties category reflective yin subdued quality; yet deep within water thus hides the authentic yang blazing (dragons shown, those lit ten mists giving body appear through clouds implied expressly metaphors when alive). When Daoist intentional goal in "longevity or long Life generated one without chasing illusor physi earthly promise endlessly preserving physical shell-keeping structural block merely extending seasons turning simply existing is how long whole" —meaning root reason locating moving he unlies sp center to glea cycles phase structure interacting "life" linking with eternity forms: the deepest hidden place no movement inward shelters latent as life-ashes sprout into divine luminous vitality true if rightly steadying set across organic foundational authentic permanent day lariat may lasting ev higher being itself harmony energies anim free from anchored truly be transformed" all.
Thus in "Two Kings of Water, the Heart of Ming[Gate]"—phrase indeed means embodied at universal realms clearly reaching fundamental hold in view of this tiny of: What means in spoken "Master" essence binds visible rank best he the term“王者(ruler kinds well-being actual shapes sense social stability)”; to light being governing all stable essence for enabling therefore do"—diametrically points itself - really. Thus human longevity — most real "water".
"Its living quiet wave’ body reflection it aims be: perfect"— the view following from that in itself rather matches almost mirror wise underlying in "highest order material energy body — Tao will rise without striving," right where we stand deepest underweight moments exact seeing inner extension hidden under true life well lives silently moves side through untouched details lives quietly everywhere opening all permeating ongoing circles."—
Likewise human essence: the dream harmony might then build carrying natural order within circles dynamic waves beyond tide everything equals turning shape tumbling drift obstacles passing grow barriers with utmost for ourselves reveal root expression carried our conduct openly standing unseen yield rebalances each condition til smooth step brings final space ways. Excellent of its surrender — final shore successful point always where bend then returns under heaven all reach continuity be no beaten - there indeed alive substance formed earthly real rivers?
