Xing Ping Hui Hai — Compendium of Stars and Zi Ping
The quick method for observing the five stars (Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Saturn) involves first determining the position and degree of the life palace: in which palace? At which degree? Then, identify which stars are benefic stars (helpful stars) or functional stars (useful stars), and which are malefic stars, adversarial stars, or detrimental stars (harmful stars). Also, examine the position of the body palace and determine which star is the body lord star. 🌌
If the life palace, body palace, benefic stars, and functional stars are in an advantageous state—timely, well-placed, and well-aspected—while the malefic, adversarial, and detrimental stars are weak, poorly placed, or afflicted, then the person can undoubtedly be judged as wealthy and noble. 💰 Conversely, if the malefic, adversarial, and detrimental stars are strong and well-placed, while the life, body, benefic, and functional stars are weak, then the person can be judged as poor or short-lived. Based on this method, ten attempts yield ten accurate results. ✅ This is merely a basic guide for beginners.
When judging a life, focus primarily on three types of stars: the lord star, the supporting star (helper star), and the malefic star (harmful star). All other stars are considered secondary stars. For example, if the body and life are placed in the Yin or Hai palaces, and Jupiter 🌳 is the life lord star, located in one of the four cardinal palaces (strong and well-placed), and further supported by being born in spring (its season of strength), or nourished by Mercury 🌊 or the Moon’s Node (an extension of Mercury), then the configuration is excellent. If Venus ⚔️, the malefic star, falls into a void, weak, or afflicted position, the person can be judged as wealthy and noble.
For a noble life, the Sun 🌞 and Moon 🌙 are the primary indicators, the heavenly official star is secondary, and the supporting star is tertiary. If these align favorably, those born during the day benefit from the southeast direction, while those born at night benefit from the northwest direction. If the Sun, Moon, and official stars flank the lord star, or the lord star flank the body and life placed in positions of authority, proximity to power, or near noble and prosperous locations; if the Sun is strong for day births and the Moon for night births, without falling into void or weak positions, and without malefic stars causing harm, then this is an exceptional noble configuration. 👑
For a wealthy life, focus on the wealth palace, property palace, and virtue palace. If these palaces are strong, well-placed, and supported, and the body and life positions are elevated and solid without falling into weak or afflicted states, then the person can be judged as wealthy. 🏡
The spouse palace is judged by the lord of the seventh palace. For example, if the spouse palace falls in the Shen or Si palaces, Mercury 🌊 is the spouse star. If Mercury is well-placed, supported, and strong, the spouse will be virtuous, beautiful, and capable of assisting the husband in achieving glory. If placed in positions of authority, prosperity, or nobility, the person may gain wealth through their spouse. If Mercury falls into a void or weak position early on, and is accompanied by malefic stars, the spouse may lack beauty, bring harm, suffer from illness, or cause family discord. Alternatively, the spouse star can be determined based on the earthly branch of the birth time. For instance, if the birth hour is Si (associated with water), Mercury is the spouse star, and the judgment remains the same. 💑
The offspring palace is judged by the lord of the fifth palace. For example, if the offspring palace falls in the Mao or Xu palaces, Mars 🔥 is the offspring star. If Mars is supported and well-placed, the person will have sons who are outstanding, talented, and heroic. If Mars is weak, void, or afflicted by malefic stars, the person may have no sons to rely on in old age, experience loss or ruin, or have children who are wasteful and bring disgrace to the family. Similarly, the offspring star can be determined based on the earthly branch of the birth time. For instance, if the birth hour is Xu (associated with fire), Mars is the offspring star, and the judgment remains the same. 👶
