Xing Ping Hui Hai — Compendium of Stars and Zi Ping
Ziping's Essential Verses
The primary step in fate analysis is to determine the Day Master (the heavenly stem of the birth day), observe whether it is in the position of the official star or the seal star, and assess its state of strength or weakness. 🌱 For example, if born on a Jia-Zi day, Zi contains Gui water, and water generates wood, so it is called "sitting on a seal"—symbolizing nourishment and support. Other days follow similar reasoning.
The Month Order (monthly branch) is called the "outline," as it contains the five elements, and the most dominant one must be selected as the key influence. 🌬 It serves as the guiding principle, dominating the overall situation.
The official star is best when pure and singular; if both the proper official and the partial official are mixed, it brings chaos and ruthlessness. An exposed official star with a hidden killing star is a blessing, while a hidden official star with an exposed killing star is a root of disaster. ⚖️ An exposed official represents nobility and prominence, while an exposed killing signifies violence and urgency.
If both the official and killing stars are exposed, it is necessary to see if there is a wealth star to harmonize or subdue them—for example, a controlled killing does not harm the official, or a wealth star generating the official can turn disaster into fortune. This is akin to a villain being restrained by a noble person, preventing them from acting recklessly.
When the official star is overly strong, it is unfavorable to encounter another official star or clashes; when the official star is weak, encountering a wealth star is auspicious. 💔 An overly strong official meeting another official easily leads to conflict, while a weak official gaining wealth enhances blessings and prosperity.
The hurt official on the year pillar requires the most caution, as its repeated appearance can harm ancestral inheritance or bring disasters. The hurt official itself signifies arrogance, but if paired with strong wealth, it can instead bring fortune; without wealth, it easily invites misfortune.
Craving harmony and forgetting the official star diminishes glory; craving harmony and forgetting the killing star turns into fortune—because the killing star is malicious, and being harmonized reduces its harm.
A weak Day Master fears excessive wealth, and if it enters an official luck cycle, disasters will follow. For example, on Jia-Shen or Jia-Xu days, if the four pillars show Wu-Ji earth (wealth stars), a weak Day Master cannot handle the wealth, and when luck reaches the official phase, two officials compete, inevitably leading to setbacks. The eating god can generate wealth, but if it encounters a killing star, it will trigger disasters. 🍚 The eating god is the element "generated by me," draining the Day Master's energy.
Harmonies between heavenly stems and earthly branches may involve clashes or restraints, requiring careful scrutiny. For example, Jia uses Xin as the official, but if it encounters Bing harmony, the official nature weakens; Jia uses Geng as the killing, but if it encounters Yi harmony, the killing nature is subdued.
Ziping's Summarized Verses
Using the official star means it must not be harmed; using the wealth star means it must not be robbed; using the seal ribbon means it must not be damaged; using the eating god means it must not be broken; using the禄 position means it must not be clashed. If there is a seven killing, it must be controlled, but excessive control turns dangerous. The hurt official most fears entering official luck; the proper official delights in seeing the wealth star; the seal ribbon favors the killing but dislikes the wealth position. ⚔️
The blade edge fears clashes and prefers harmony; the shoulder sibling requires the seven killing to control it. The seven killing delights in being subdued by the eating god; having禄 fears the arrival of the official star; the eating god most favors the presence of the partial wealth star. This is the essence of the Ziping method, and fortune-tellers should carefully understand it.
Ziping's Hundred Chapters
Heaven, earth, and human elements are divided into the five notes (five elements); the subtle principles of yin and yang are truly real. Understanding retention, elimination, and allocation requires deep insight, first knowing the causes of fortune and misfortune. The six patterns of yin and yang create transformation, a celestial secret not to be lightly revealed. The ancient sages understood this wonderfully, silently observing the universe without speaking. The three elements (heaven, earth, human) losing their harmonious energy deepens the meaning of prosperity and decline. Only by understanding the Ziping method of weighing lightness and heaviness can one realize the invaluable worth of this secret. 💎
Establishing the method first determines life and death, then distinguishes nobility, baseness, auspiciousness, and inauspiciousness. The subtle principles need no extra words; idle talk should not be taken as truth. The wonderful method is only two sentences; without a master's transmission, efforts are in vain. The true messages within must be carefully sought. Speaking thoroughly of celestial secrets, empty words are always futile. Apart from Ziping's true wonderful secrets, a thousand volumes of idle writing are merely wind. Quoting the stems and branches is marvelously divine; the Na Yin system emptily loses its natural truth. Understanding the mysteries within, one laughs at the fortune-tellers of the rivers and lakes.
There are many schools of technique, but the Three Fates are the foundation; the five elements of heaven and earth gather and are constrained. Ziping correctly aligns with the way of yin and yang; outside of this, all other writings are empty. The Day Master is the primary focus for discussing roots; the Month Order's rest or imprisonment means ancestors do not summon. Birth hour clashes and breaks ensure a life of loneliness and hardship. One official, two seals, three wealth positions, four killings, five eating gods, six hurt officials—the six patterns divide creation, with thousands of variations of high and low, noble and base.
Jia and Yi follow Qian (Hai palace) water direction; Geng and Xin are strong in autumn, and earth generates metal. Bing and Ding see Xu storing divine fire; Ren and Gui meet Hai (pig) and gather at Shen. Spring wood and summer fire meet their time of strength; autumn metal and winter water follow the same trend. It is unfavorable for the blade edge to be exposed in the heavenly stems; if luck repeats, misfortunes arise. Year clashing with the Month Order requires leaving the ancestors; day breaking the outline ensures harm to the wife. Hour and day secretly clash, harming wife and children; ruthlessness often brings a life of lowliness.
The year reveals the rise and fall of ancestors; the month deduces the survival of parents. The day palace specifically discusses the spouse situation; the hour determines the high or low status of descendants. The year's roots surpass the month's outline; the month's birth and strength are subtle in the day's eating god. The day's strength generates a hundred moments; the hour's roots are light,推算 eight moments. Nobility and wealth require unusual eating gods in the heavenly stems;地支拱夹 is rarely known. Two stems unmixed still bring nobility; one qi generating people is rare in creation.
The year and month branches determine ancestral causes, further observing the Day Master's depth and shallowness. The hurt official position must guard against harm to the mother; repeated比劫 damage the father. The five notes are metal, wood, water, fire, earth; wealth, official, seal, hurt official, eating god, and shoulder sibling form the six patterns. Fortune-tellers follow the noble person. Qian, the Hai palace—Ren water's禄 is in Hai, Jia wood is born in Hai. The day palace (day branch) is the spouse palace. Two stems unmixed, such as Jia-Zi, Yi-Hai, Jia-Xu, Yi-Chou examples.
The core of the Ziping method (Eight Characters fate analysis) centers on the Day Master (the heavenly stem of the birth day), combined with elements like the Month Order, official and killing stars, wealth and seal stars, and eating and hurt officials, to analyze the interactions and strength of the five elements and determine fate patterns. It emphasizes "purity" and "balance"—the official star should be pure, the killing star should be controlled, and the Day Master and wealth should be balanced, avoiding clashes and chaos. The principles of yin and yang and the five elements run throughout, seeking harmony among the three elements of heaven, earth, and human.
In modern society, these principles can be translated into references for personal development and decision-making:
The Ziping method reflects the "harmony between heaven and human" and the "way of balance" in classical Chinese philosophy. Fate is not predetermined but a dynamic system of five-element interactions—emphasizing self-adjustment (e.g., controlling the killing, using wealth) to optimize outcomes. It rejects superstition and encourages rational analysis: understanding the method of weighing lightness and heaviness means驾驭 life through understanding laws rather than passive acceptance. From a modern perspective, it is a data-driven self-awareness tool integrating environmental adaptation and psychological insight.
