Article One. The art of Qi Men Dun Jia has been lost for a long time. Various schools and lineages have established their own independent systems, each cherishing their own methods like treasuring a worn-out broom, unable to distinguish right from wrong. In compiling this work, wherever a single character or principle has two or three variant interpretations, all versions are preserved side by side for the reader's reference and comparison.

Article Two. Given the myriad divergent theories in Qi Men, this work places the most orthodox and comprehensive interpretations at the foremost position, with other explanations either following afterward or provided as sub-annotations. We dare not make arbitrary selections based on personal bias, though a slight emphasis upon rank and importance is inevitably reflected.
