物格而后知至,本末须详;事来必先见诚,始终可断。细而长者,以一尺为百年,计分而知寿算;方而圆者,以千金比一两,度轻重以定枯荣。落手银圈,放荡终不改;出囊珠石,峥嵘自有时。石土不逢时,谓之无用;木金全失气,枉劳徒劳。执墨问功名,研究之夕,日见不足;端鼎比身命,近贵之体,一世非轻。腰下佩锥,所求皆遂;道傍叶核,百事无成。取草问营谋,逢春须茂盛;将银问财帛,有本恐消磨。素纨无诗,当推结识疏;牙签托人,毕竞不顾我。数珠团圆到底,夫妻儿女皆宜;木鱼振作不常,父母兄弟难合。力下行人来得快,笔占远处有施为。求子息圆者不宜空;占买卖长者终须折。衣衫则包藏骨肉,葬祭之事宜然;绦带必亲执肩躯,牵缠之争未免。舟车骡马,用之则行;婢仆鸡鸢,呼之便至。金扇之类,收有复展之期;烹调之物,死无再生之理。瓜果问事,破不重圆;棋子求占,散而又聚。荡尘理乱,无跧金篦牙签;释罪沉冤,俱是何章刀笔。壶是主人礼,则空而满,满而复空;镇为君子之防匙,则去而来,来而复去。
文章书籍,非小人用之;筐筥梨耙,岂君子用之。惯执鞭所忻慕焉,富而必可求也;能弹琴复长啸耳,乐亦在其中乎。娱指悬匏,功名少待;折来垂柳,意兴多狂。竹杖笼头,节义一生无愧怍;木锥莺嘴,钻眉万物有刚强。手不释正业经书,自知道德修诸己;问不离九流艺术,意在干戈省厥躬。指庭前向日之花,倏忽坐间移影;点槛外敲风之竹,晨昏静里闻音。君子执笙簧,陶陶其乐,舌鼓终须不免;女人拈针线,刺刺不休,心牵毕竟难触。出匣图书行欲方,眼下可分玉石;执来宝剑心从利,手中立剖疑难。羽扇纶巾,须知人自山中去;奇珍异宝,可断人从海上来。百草可活人,不识者不可妄用;六经能裨世,未精者焉敢施为。指盂中之水,久不耗而则倾;顾冶内之金,须知积而有用。事非容易,一首词两下欣逢;学识渊源,几名话三生有幸。执金学道,借服为聚物之囊;割爱延师,重身如无价之宝。明心受业,既行束上之修;寄柬传言,莫废师尊之礼。斯其人也,斯其义也,可以为之。非其重焉,非其道焉,孰轻与尔。

Holding metal to cultivate the Tao uses objects to illustrate principles, while sacrificing personal attachments to honor a teacher values the Tao as treasure. Gaining clarity through learning requires observing the rites of apprenticeship, and sending letters to convey messages must not neglect the duty of respecting teachers. Only actions aligned with the Tao and righteous causes should be pursued; actions contrary to the Tao and objects of little significance should never be taken lightly.
