|---|---|---|
| Jia, Wu, Geng | Daji (Chou) | Xiaoji (Wei) |
| Yi, Ji | Shenhou (Zi) | Chuansong (Shen) |
| Bing, Ding | Dengming (Hai) | Hequi (Xu) |
| Xin | Shengguang (Wu) | Gongcao (Yin) |
| Ren, Gui | Taiyi (Si) | Taichong (Mao) |
Each time the star falls in a position of the earthly disk, moving with or against the order.
The Celestial乙 Noble, Ji-Chou Earth General, Governs Purity and Command
The Celestial乙 belongs to Ji-Chou earth. In heaven it corresponds to the twelve spirits, on earth it represents the twelve regions, in the yearly cycle it is the twelve meridians. The Celestial乙 commands and governs the multitude, inferring calamities and blessings with verification.
For example, on a Jia day, the Noble at Chou is dawn, at Wei is dusk. The Noble at Yi-Chou belongs to metal, at Xin-Wei belongs to earth. The Noble moving in order is auspicious, moving in reverse is inauspicious; mutual harmony is auspicious, mutual disharmony is inauspicious. At Chou it is called "ascending the hall," favorable if harmonious and sequential. One should also observe the attendant spirits — if among auspicious ones, auspicious; if among inauspicious ones, inauspicious. Other spirits and generals are all judged similarly.
The Noble Celestial乙, named Kuigui (Commander and Axe), audiencing and seeking favor brings joyful new energy. Noblemen receive promotion and increased rank; common people enter lawsuits in the public court. Mutual generation and flourishing abundance receive summons of grace; imprisoned, dead, injured, penalized — beware of anger and wrath. The sick suffer headaches, cold and heat ailments; the haunting entity is not a common ghost but a heavenly spirit.
Prognostications for the Noble's position in the twelve palaces:
The classic says: "In a void lesson, what then? What should be worried about is not worried; what should be delighted in is not delighted. If two fires meet one metal, the metal is dissolved. If two waters meet one fire, the fire is extinguished. If the Noble is at Yi-Chou (metal), and [another spirit] at Hai—Yi-Hai is fire—fire wishes to overcome metal, but water exists as rescue, so it cannot overcome—there are ghost bandits but not enough to worry about. If the Noble rides Xin-Wei earth, and below at Gui-You metal, metal and earth generate each other—an image of mutual auspiciousness. Or if the Noble rides Yin, obtaining Ren-Yin metal, below at Jia-Chen fire—fire refines the metal; obtaining Bing-Wu water, the calamity disperses."
