The Wealth Pattern is one of the most core patterns in Bazi destiny analysis, concerning wealth, wife, and the hierarchical level of one's life pattern. The Wealth Star has four titles: Wealth Star, Heavenly Horse Star, Office-Promoting Star, and Ambition God, from which one can discern the multifaceted meanings of the Wealth Star—it is both the sustenance for life and the engine that drives official rank and nobility, as well as the energy source for life ambitions.
The likes and dislikes of the Wealth Pattern are very clear: It favors strong Day Master, Seal of Authority (Yin), and Eating God (Shishen); when wealth appears, look at the Officer, using the Eating God as a guide; it dislikes weak Day Master, Shoulder-to-Shoulder (Bijian), Blade of Yang (Yangren), emptiness and extinction, and clashes or combinations. These sixteen characters forming the general outline are the first criterion for judging the success or failure of a Wealth Pattern.
Direct Wealth refers to cases such as Jia day seeing Ji, Yi day seeing Wu, and so forth—that which I control, like a wife. The ancients used marriage as an analogy: a wife brings a dowry and marries me; I myself must be vigorous in spirit to enjoy this wealth. If I am extremely weak, even if the wife's family is wealthy, I could only look on helplessly, unable ultimately to use it. Therefore, the Direct Wealth Pattern stresses timely acquisition and flourishing strength, disfavoring mixture of Direct and Indirect Wealth, and disfavoring redundancy from repetition. As long as the Day Master is strong, blessings will issue forth.
Wealth numerous while the body is weak is the primary taboo of the Wealth Pattern. When Wealth Stars pile up in the chart while the Day Master is weak, and without Seal support, it is like a sickly person guarding a mountain of gold—not only unable to enjoy it but burdened by it, being reduced to a "poor man in a wealthy house"—a pauper living in a mansion. The classic text says well: "The wife broken time and again, wealth light, body strong, many brothers"; it also says: "Wealth numerous, body weak, instead becomes a poor man in a wealthy house." The Wealth Pattern fears most the Shoulder-to-Shoulder and Robber types, because the Robber Wealth is like a bandit, specializing in plundering one's wealth.
The metaphor of Luolu Zi is extremely vivid: if the Heavenly Stem (Day Master) is extremely weak, even the most auspicious positions in the palace chart offer no help. Even if one is as rich as Deng Tong, possessing the authority to mint coins, he may still end up starving to death. Conversely, if the Month Branch obtains the Wealth Bureau but the body is weak, when the Seal type saves and strengthens the body, upon vigor the pattern can achieve success and fulfill wealth fortune.
There is a crucial order of precedence: Wealth first, seal after—on the contrary, it brings blessings; seal first, wealth after—on the contrary, it incurs disgrace. That is, in the Wealth Pattern with a weak body, the aid of the Seal type is greatly auspicious; but if it was originally a Seal pattern, seeing wealth damage the seal then indicates a broken pattern that invites ruin. With differences in sequence, fortune and misfortune are worlds apart.
Regarding the concealment and exposure of the Wealth Star, there is even more profound worldly wisdom: "Wealth should be hidden; concealed, it becomes abundant; exposed, it becomes unsettled and fickle." When the Wealth Star is hidden among the branches, without displaying grandeur publicly, it is true personal wealth; once revealed openly, others may well covet it. Interestingly, however, when a Robber type is in the chart, wealth should instead be exposed. This is like when I amextremely wealthy: were everyone to know, thieves would no longer dare to resort to overt robbery. Is not this proof positive that the principles of fate are consistent with human society?
When a Wealth Pattern sees a directly visible Officer Star unharmed, assisted further by an Eating God generating wealth or a Seal nurturing the body, and the Day Master vigorous, it completes the pattern of thorough nobility and wealth. If Seven Killings appear instead, the killing must be controlled regardless, transformed as supplementary Officer, following the same principle as the Wealth-Officer pattern. Most feared are the Owl God loosing the Eating God (the eating sprite being deprived so it cannot nourish wealth), Blade-cutting robbery (wealth being plundered and underserved), and the emptiness of the treasury (the wealth depository chancing emptiness, poly-less, distributing).
"Wealth is the source of survival." The Bazi cannot lack wealth, yet cannot be saturated—magnified manyfold, the pattern loses clarity. If the original chart restricts wealth and one only comes upon such a luck phase, the effect is nominal, the framework shameless—the independent luck is merely external affinity while the original framework prevails. If a wealth-duodenum weakened body goes to Officer-invigorating wealth-prone, wealth feeds on further withness and official in conflagation; rather than granting promotion and gain, accidents beget multiplying harm.
Wealth as the horse; officer as salary, the relationship hangs subtle and nuanced: an Officer star present warrants a wealth phase; a Wealth star warrants-an officer segment. An officer-generating venue boosts salary or hogs possibilities alike: same sequence thereby may yield both silk and comfort.
