🌳 Section 1 | The Essence of Jia Wood: The Towering Stem, the Backbone of Life
🔸 Original Text
Jia wood towers to the sky; it needs fire to be born. In spring, it cannot tolerate metal; in autumn, it cannot tolerate earth. When fire is intense, ride the dragon; when water is turbulent, ride the tiger. When the earth is moist and the heavens harmonious, it stands firm for eternity.
Pure yang wood, towering and majestic. Fire is the child of wood; vigorous wood thrives with fire. Born in spring, it overpowers metal and cannot tolerate it; born in autumn, it assists metal and cannot tolerate earth. With many Yin-Wu-Xu and Bing-Ding, sitting on Chen allows return; with many Shen-Zi-Chen and Ren-Gui, sitting on Yin allows absorption. If the earth qi is not dry and the water qi is not dissipated, it can grow long.
🔸 Vernacular Translation
Jia wood is like a towering tree that stands tall between heaven and earth. To break through its shell and become mature, it must undergo the tempering of fire. It is the most upright of the five elements, with a firm physique and a vigorous posture. If nourished by the qi of heaven and earth, it can take deep root, flourish, and stand for generations.
Born in spring, Jia wood is strong and tenacious, but metal at this time is weak and cannot trim it; instead, it is oppressed by wood, hence "spring cannot tolerate metal." Born in autumn, wood's nature has declined; earth should supplement the roots of wood, but due to its thin qi, it cannot bear the burden and is overturned, hence "autumn cannot tolerate earth."
In a destiny chart, if Yin-Wu-Xu are all present, and Bing-Ding fire is revealed, although it can drain the excess qi of wood, if the fire is too intense, it will burn Jia wood. In this case, if it sits on Chen (earth containing water), the moist earth with water can control fire and protect wood, which is called "when fire is intense, ride the dragon." If the chart has Shen-Zi-Chen all present and Ren-Gui water is revealed, although wood grows with water, there is a fear of water floating the wood. If it sits on Yin (fire and earth birthplace), it can warm water and help wood, which is called "when water is turbulent, ride the tiger."
If the metal in the chart is not too sharp, the earth not too dry and cracked, the fire not too extreme, and the water not overflowing, then heaven and earth are harmonious, and Jia wood can settle its destiny peacefully, thriving continuously and enduring for a long time.
🔸 Thoughts and Inspiration
1. Jia wood symbolizes a life structure that is "strong in rigidity, wise in flexibility, and upright in authority."
It is not as soft as Yi wood; it grows stubbornly, rooting upward and pushing downward. But if Jia wood only knows how to be stiff, it will be like a strong tree struck by lightning, damaging its destiny. Therefore, what it needs most is "harmony"—the guidance of fire, the nourishment of water, and the support of earth.
2. "When fire is intense, ride the dragon; when water is turbulent, ride the tiger"—this is the natural trend and also the skill of destiny.
Behind these metaphors lies a key point: the combination of resources determines the flow of energy.
It is not that more fire is better or more water is better, but rather "obtain the right time, use the right place." The art of destiny emphasizes: having roots, having feelings, having control, having support.
3. Corresponding to personality, people with Jia wood often have great ambitions and a sense of responsibility, but if they lack the support of regulators, they may become stubborn and self-destructive; if too constrained, they may feel unrecognized talent.
Therefore, whether a person can "stand firm for eternity" depends not on how strong their original material is, but on whether the environment, timing, and structure are appropriate.
🌳 Section 2 | The Image of Jia Wood: The "Big Tree Personality" in All Things
🔸 Original Text
Jia images: thunder, big tree, leader, forest, wood, beam, utility pole, tall building, shrine, government office;
In the human body: head, face, hair, eyebrows, arms, limbs, liver, gallbladder, meridians, nerves;
In human nature: broad benevolence, openness, excellence, nobility; Its form is "straight."
🔸 Thoughts and Inspiration
1. Jia wood is a symbol of "standing tall between heaven and earth," not only a natural image but also a metaphor for personality.
Imagine a big tree—rooted in the earth, with straight branches, unyielding in wind and rain, stretching in all seasons—this is Jia wood.
Corresponding to personality, people with Jia wood often possess a strong sense of morality and responsibility. They are the core of a team, willing to shelter others from wind and rain.
2. "Straight" is a structural force and also a form of cultivation.
"Straight" means unyielding, unbending, and not twisted. But if "straight" lacks softness, it can become stubborn. If "straight" lacks roots, it becomes floating wood.
Therefore, a mature Jia wood must have both noble aspirations and know how to use softness to balance rigidity.
3. The image of Jia wood also reminds us how to observe others and ourselves.
When you meet someone who is open-minded and responsible, they may have the temperament of Jia wood.
And when you find in yourself a side of "stubbornness" or "inflexibility," it may be that "wood is too strong" without the regulation of fire or the control of earth.
🌿 Section 3 | The Stem-Branch Relationships of Jia Wood: The Terrain of Destiny in the Flow of Seasons
🔸 Original Data
Twelve Growth Stages
| Growth | Bath | Capping | Official | Prosperity | Decline | Sickness | Death | Tomb | Absolute | Fetus | Nourishment |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hai | Zi | Chou | Yin | Mao | Chen | Si | Wu | Wei | Shen | You | Xu |
Void and Solid Relationships
-
Solid branches: Jia Yin, Jia Chen, Jia Zi
-
Void branches: Jia Shen, Jia Xu, Jia Wu
🔸 Vernacular Explanation
Twelve Growth Stages is a system in destiny theory that measures the "life state" of a heavenly stem in an earthly branch, similar to a complete cycle from birth, growth, to aging.
For Jia wood:
-
It is born in Hai water (Growth), like a seed breaking through soil, nourished by water;
-
Grows in Yin (Official) and Mao (Prosperity), with branches rising vigorously;
-
Declines in Chen, sickens in Si, dies in Wu, gradually entering a period of withering;
-
Enters the tomb in Wei, becomes absolute in Shen, re-enters the fetus in You, and is nourished in Xu, completing a cycle.
In stem-branch combinations, Jia wood also has a distinction between "void" and "solid":
-
Solid branches Jia Yin, Jia Chen, Jia Zi: These combinations have earthly branches that support or contain Jia wood's qi, making it deep-rooted and not floating.
-
Void branches Jia Shen, Jia Xu, Jia Wu: These combinations have earthly branches whose five elements are unfavorable to Jia wood, either clashing or draining it, making it floating and rootless. In the context of ten gods, this sometimes indicates a weakened meaning of the ten god represented by Jia wood.
🔸 Thoughts and Inspiration
🌀 1. "Jia wood" is not a piece of wood, but a life state living in seasons and support
The strength of Jia wood does not depend on whether you "belong to wood" but on what environment it survives in.
For example, born in the month of Yin (Official) or Mao (Prosperity), Jia wood is at its peak, lush and flourishing;
Born in the month of Shen (Absolute) or Wu (Death), it is like deep autumn or cold winter, with withered branches and weak roots, difficult to grow.
You are a "tree," but you must also consider the "season," the "soil," and the "feng shui"—this is the environmental variable of destiny.
🔍 2. Void and solid are the most realistic metaphors of life in destiny theory
A "void" Jia wood appears upright and righteous, but is actually internally empty, restless, and easily broken;
A "solid" Jia wood may not look dazzling on the outside, but is deeply rooted and inherently resilient.
This is also true in reality—
If a person only relies on "external labels" (such as education, titles, platforms) without real ability and accumulation, that is void. However, there is another expression: when Jia wood's ten god is officer or killing, void transparency sometimes indicates fame, not the image of management or officialdom.
Conversely, a person may seem low-key and ordinary, but if they can deliver stable output and support the team at critical moments, they are solid.
🌿 3. The "Growth and Prosperity" of life can be cultivated
Growth and Prosperity in destiny theory are not predetermined fates but potentials that can be activated through "environment," "relationships," and "actions."
You can also turn from "void" to "solid" and seek life from "death," as long as you are willing to adjust your environment and internal structure.
🌿 Section 4 | Stem-Stem Relationships and Regulating Combinations of Jia Wood: The Rhythm of Life and Death in the Climate of Heaven and Earth
🔸 Analysis of Combination Relationships
Jia and Ji combine, a union of honor and humility; Ji likes to combine with Jia, but Jia does not like to combine with Ji.
📘 Vernacular Explanation:
-
Jia is yang wood, Ji is yin earth; yang represents honor, yin represents humility, hence called "union of honor and humility."
-
Ji earth is originally soft and moist; with Jia wood, it becomes material for beams, so Ji likes Jia to guide and support.
-
But Jia wood is lofty and straight; if entangled by Ji earth, it becomes a hindrance, making it difficult to rise, hence "does not like to combine with Ji."
🧠 Inspirational Thought:
In relationships, you are willing to combine because you think the other person is worthy of you;
You are combined, but it may be that the other person treats you as a support, even a restriction.
"Combination" is not always good, especially when you have ambitions far away; too much "earth" entanglement restricts your spreading branches.
Think about it: are we often entangled by such "Ji earth" as "stability," "responsibility," and "human feelings," forgetting that we are originally towering trees?
🔸 Complete Overview and Essence of Regulating Combinations
Regulating methods refer to selecting appropriate fire to warm, water to moisten, metal to split, and earth to cultivate based on the state of wood in different solar terms and months. The following lists the key regulating points for Jia wood by month:
| Month | Regulating Gods | Summary | Great Luck |

🌱 First Month (Zheng Yue)
-
Main gods: Bing, Gui
-
Climate background: Early spring cold, wood tender and easily broken.
-
Key regulating points:
-
Bing fire main, thaw and promote; Gui water auxiliary, nourish roots.
-
Bing and Gui both transparent, need Wu earth to control water, prevent water flooding wood floating.
-
-
Avoided luck: Xin combining Bing (binding), Ren overcoming Bing (fire extinguished).
🌀Thought guide: All newborn things are fragile, suitable for gentle nurturing rather than strong attack; at the beginning of life, also need "Bing"-like warmth rather than "Geng"-like axe.
🌿 Second Month
-
Main gods: Geng, Bing, Ding, Wu, Ji
-
Pattern characteristics: Yang blade driving killing, Geng metal splitting wood as main tone.
-
Regulating suggestions:
-
Without Geng, use Bing Ding to release elegance.
-
When forming Quzhi pattern, wood and fire are noble, not suitable for metal and earth.
-
-
Avoided luck: Gui water, draining metal, damaging earth, intelligence suffers.
🧭Thought guide: Although Geng metal is an enemy that overcomes wood, it is also a tool for carving. Hurt officer seeing officer is either disaster or blessing, entirely dependent on pattern and strength adjustment.
🌸 Third Month (Late Spring)
-
Main gods: Geng, Ding, Ren
-
Climate background: Late spring, wood qi gradually declines, fire and earth will flourish.
🔍 Vernacular Explanation:
The third month is the time when wood qi is about to end and fire qi begins to rise. Although Jia wood is still strong, it has reached its extreme and is most afraid of metal cutting. If Geng appears in the bureau, it must be controlled by Ding fire (hurt officer controlling killing), otherwise Geng metal harms the body. Without Geng, Ren water can be used to assist wood qi, forming a "killing and seal generating each other" pattern. If fire and earth are too abundant in the bureau, need Ren Gui to harmonize and protect wood qi.
🧠 Thought Inspiration:
Extreme prosperity leads to decline. When life reaches its peak, one must learn to restrain and harmonize, otherwise "wood that is too strong breaks."
Learn to cultivate the mind and store energy at high positions for the next stage.
🌿 Fourth Month (Early Summer)
-
Main gods: Gui, Ding, Geng
-
Climate background: Fire gradually strong, wood nature restless, water qi declines.
🔍 Vernacular Explanation:
Jia wood in fire-abundant times easily scorches, needs Gui water to nourish and harmonize as main; if water qi is sufficient in the bureau, need Geng metal to trim wood shape and Ding fire to release elegance, preventing Jia wood from "lush but scorched." The key to harmonizing is to seek smoothness in moisture.
🧠 Thought Inspiration:
When you are in a state of high pressure and high energy, the most important thing is internal moisturizing — keep softness, avoid being "burned out by passion." When energy is high, control your emotions and desires.
🔥 Fifth Month (Midsummer)
-
Main gods: Gui, Ding, Geng
-
Climate background: Fire extreme, wood withered, water scarce, metal melted.
🔍 Vernacular Explanation:
The fifth month is the month of extreme fire. Jia wood is void and scorched; Gui water is the first use to moisten its withered roots. If water qi is insufficient, Jia wood has little vitality. When Geng metal is present, it must be controlled by Ding fire; when Bing fire is present, Ren water is needed to harmonize. The most feared is abundant wood with withered water, abundant fire melting metal; need moist earth to balance.
🧠 Thought Inspiration:
In "summer," people often appear radiant, but internally they are already scorched. Surface success may hide physical and mental crises.
Without self-nourishment (Gui water), even the highest passion turns to scorched earth.
☀️ Sixth Month (Late Summer)
-
Main gods: Gui, Ding, Geng
-
Climate background: Fire gradually retreats, water begins to grow, metal not yet strong.
🔍 Vernacular Explanation:
In the first half, fire is still strong; Gui water is main; in the second half, use Geng metal and Ding fire as auxiliary. Ding fire releases elegance, Geng metal leads fire to brightness, Gui water nourishes the root. Geng metal should not be too abundant, otherwise wood is thin and metal hard; Gui water insufficient, then wood withered and restless.
🧠 Thought Inspiration:
In the cooling-down phase, one needs rational closure.
The sixth month reminds us: after "passion," do a good job of closing and transitioning to avoid energy depletion.
🍁 Seventh Month (Early Autumn)
-
Main gods: Geng, Ding, Ren
-
Climate background: Metal abundant, wood declines, wood qi enters tomb, Ding fire important.
🔍 Vernacular Explanation:
Metal qi is strong, Jia wood falls into difficulty. Need Ding fire to control Geng first; without Ding, Ren water can be used to generate wood.
Jia wood at this time most fears heavy metal and light wood, so need fire to protect the body and water to help the root. If Geng abundant and Ding weak, indicates toiling and injury.
🧠 Thought Inspiration:
When facing real pressure and rules (Geng metal), ideals (Ding fire) and inner beliefs must be firm to resist external "cutting."
🍂 Eighth Month (Mid-Autumn)
-
Main gods: Geng, Ding, Bing
-
Climate background: Metal qi extremely strong, wood withered needs fire, like Bing Ding transparent.
🔍 Vernacular Explanation:
Jia wood extremely weak, most needs Bing Ding fire to warm and Geng metal to carve. Ding fire can remove Geng killing for use, forming "remove killing retain officer" pattern, indicates nobility. Without fire, wood shape incomplete, fate pattern cold and clear. Gui water overcoming Ding breaks the pattern, unfavorable for achievement.
🧠 Thought Inspiration:
In the coldest season, the more internal heat is needed.
You must keep that "Bing Ding fire," even if the outside world is harsh, use faith to illuminate yourself.
🍂 Ninth Month (Late Autumn)
-
Main gods: Geng, Jia, Ding, Ren, Gui
-
Climate background: Earth abundant, metal strong, wood qi completely declines.
🔍 Vernacular Explanation:
Xu month is fire tomb and earth abundant, Jia wood trapped. If wood strong, use Geng metal to cut; if wood weak, take seal and compare to help the body.
Branch sees compare and rob snatching wealth, need Geng metal to control; if abandon fate follow wealth pattern forms, instead use fire and earth as use. Original bureau focuses on harmonizing, prevent "body defeated wealth abundant."
🧠 Thought Inspiration:
In an environment where resources are biased towards others, you either strive for strength (Geng controlling compare and rob) or go with the flow (following pattern). The key is to recognize the times.
🌬 Tenth Month (Early Winter)
-
Main gods: Geng, Ding, Bing, Wu
-
Climate background: Cold water gradually rises, wood even weaker, fire for harmonizing.
🔍 Vernacular Explanation:
Tenth month metal abundant water born, Jia wood nearly withered and cold, must use Bing Ding to warm. Geng metal still needs fire to control. If water too abundant, need Wu earth to stop it.
Jia wood without root encountering cold water floats, must have Bing Ding to warm its qi and Wu to protect its body.
🧠 Thought Inspiration:
If the environment is too cold, need "fire" to maintain confidence.
Do not expect the environment to change; warm yourself first, so you won't be carried away by the cold current.
❄️ Eleventh Month (Mid-Winter)
-
Main gods: Ding, Geng, Bing
-
Climate background: Water extremely strong, cold to the bone, wood extremely withered.
🔍 Vernacular Explanation:
Jia wood is in a state of "water turbulent ride tiger," water abundant wood floats, must have Ding fire as main to harmonize. Geng metal as auxiliary, Bing fire as help, if branch sees Yin Si etc. that can generate Ding fire, is noble fate; if Gui overcomes Ding, then pattern breaks.
🧠 Thought Inspiration:
When life is coldest, it is not lack of resources but lack of "hope and heat." You must light that lamp, even if faint, it can dispel the darkness.
🧊 Twelfth Month (Deep Winter)
-
Main gods: Ding, Geng, Bing
-
Climate background: Extreme cold, wood frozen, water icy.
🔍 Vernacular Explanation:
Twelfth month is severe winter, Jia wood extremely weak, Ding fire is indispensable, harmonizing to save life. If see Yin with Bing, Wu, Jia is auspicious, Geng metal splitting Jia to lead Ding as auxiliary. If water too abundant, wood without root, then easily drift. Fire must have root to be useful.
🧠 Thought Inspiration:
In the "winter" of life, what truly matters is finding the spark of your own life. Do not rely on others, do not wait for the weather; only with a thread of faith can you walk out of the cold.
