Overall Interpretation
📖 The path of learning requires both the Parent Line and the Self Line to be strong and vigorous, enabling one to transform into a dragon and achieve academic success. If supported by the daily, monthly, or moving lines, one is destined to become a pillar of the nation.
It is ideal for both the Self Line and the Parent Line to be in a prosperous state, or to transform into auspicious signs upon activation. Alternatively, if the Parent Line occupies the Self Line and receives support from the daily, monthly, or moving lines, it is akin to receiving guidance from a noble figure, ensuring success is within reach.
If the Wealth Line is activated in the hexagram, it symbolizes difficulty in focusing on studies, potentially leading to abandoning one’s academic journey halfway. If the Offspring Line occupies the Self Line, it indicates a lack of fortune in achieving fame and recognition; even a lifetime of study may not yield significant accomplishments.
An activated Wealth Line restrains literary fortune, causing one to give up on studies prematurely. An activated Offspring Line signifies a lack of connection to official positions and fame; even lifelong dedication to learning may not lead to success.
🗿 For careers in the nine specialized arts (such as religion, medicine, and the arts), it is essential for the Wealth Line to be prosperous and the Officer Line to be vigorous. This ensures that one’s skills are respected. If the Sibling Line is activated or the Self Line is weak, one may easily face slander and struggle to build a reputation.
It is favorable for the Wealth Line or the Officer Line to occupy the Self Line, or for the Wealth, Officer, and Self Lines to all be in advantageous positions. If the Sibling Line is activated in the hexagram or occupies the Self Line, one may barely make a living and find it difficult to achieve great success.
💡 Juezi补充道: According to ancient methods, the nine specialized arts all consider the Officer Ghost Line as auspicious. However, for professions like celestial masters, exorcism, and shamanic healing, it is instead necessary for the Offspring Line to be prosperous to effectively subdue ghosts and eliminate evil. In such cases, the Offspring Line occupying the Self Line or being activated is considered an auspicious sign.
🔧 For various crafts and technical professions, the Wealth Line should be used as the Focus Line, and the Offspring Line as the Original Spirit Line. The most unfavorable scenarios are the Sibling Line occupying the Self Line or being vigorously activated, as this may lead to a lifetime of toil without significant achievement. Specific judgments can be referenced using the methods described in the chapter on seeking wealth.
⚠️ In all the above scenarios, it is unfavorable for the Self Line to encounter emptiness, breakdown, entrapment, exhaustion, or a weak and dormant state, as this will lead to failure in all endeavors. If the Self Line is already weak and dormant, and further encounters scenarios such as "following the ghost into entrapment," being冲克ed by daily, monthly, or moving lines, or transforming into a ghost line, exhaustion, or harm, not only will academic pursuits be difficult to achieve, but one must also guard against unexpected disasters.
