Zeng Shan Bu Yi — Revised I Ching Divination
General Interpretation
Divining the timing ⏳ of obtaining burial land relies on analyzing the state of the Self Line. If the Self Line is tranquil, the expected time will be during the year or month of its clash or value; if the Self Line is activated, the expected time will be during the year or month of its value or combination. If the Self Line is in emptiness, the fulfillment will occur during the period of clashing emptiness or solid emptiness; if the Self Line is broken by the month, the fulfillment will occur in the month when it is filled solid. If the Self Line is combined or enters a tomb, one must wait for the time when it is clashed open; if a single line in the hexagram is uniquely tranquil or uniquely activated, the fulfillment will also occur when that line reaches its value. If the Self Line is weak and powerless, one must wait for a time of strength; if the Self Line is already strong, the expected time will instead be during a period of weakness.
Specifically: The Self Line represents the burial land. If it is tranquil, the land will be obtained in the year or month of its clash or value. For example, if the Self Line is Water (Zi) and tranquil, the fulfillment will occur in the year or month of Horse (Wu) (Zi-Wu clash) or the year or month of Rat (Zi) (value). If the Self Line is activated, the fulfillment will occur in the year or month of Ox (Chou) (Zi-Chou combination) or the year or month of Rat (Zi) (value). Other lines can be interpreted similarly.
If the Self Line is in emptiness, the fulfillment will occur in the year of clashing emptiness (e.g., if the Self Line is empty Zi, it will occur in the year of Wu) or solid emptiness (the year when Zi exits emptiness). If the Self Line is broken by the month, the fulfillment will occur in the year when it is filled solid (value). If the Self Line encounters a three-combination, six-combination, transformation combination, entry into the daily tomb, or transformation tomb, one must wait for the day when it is clashed open. If a single line in the hexagram is uniquely activated, the fulfillment will occur in the year when the activated line is combined (e.g., if Zi is activated, it will occur in the year of Chou). If a single line is uniquely tranquil, the fulfillment will occur in the year when the tranquil line is clashed (e.g., if Zi is tranquil, it will occur in the year of Wu). The rest can be inferred similarly.

The Wealth Line Hai Water is uniquely activated 🌊, generating and supporting the Self Line Zi Water, but it is restrained by the turning back Xu Earth 🚫. Currently, Hai Water is broken by the month (Chen Month). It will be filled solid in the ninth month (Xu Month), but Xu Earth will become even stronger and restrain Water. Only until winter, when Water is strong (Hai and Zi Months), and Water energy revives, can the land be obtained.
When asked about the direction, the response was: "Divination addresses this, not that; if you ask about direction, you need another divination." One hexagram does not cover multiple matters.
