Chapter 47: Employing a Teacher 🌟
In Six Yao divination, the Parent Yao represents both teachers and the symbolism of books and knowledge. When inquiring about hiring a teacher for instruction, the Parent Yao is used as the focal symbol. If the Parent Yao is strong (🔥 vibrant), aligned with the Sun or Moon, or transforms auspiciously, it indicates a respectable and competent teacher. However, if it is weak (💤 dormant), void, broken, in a state of extremity, or transforms inauspiciously, it suggests the teacher may be negligent and offer no practical educational benefits.
When the Self Yao and Parent Yao mutually generate each other, the teacher-student relationship is harmonious, and the teacher excels at guidance (🌱 nurturing). If the Parent Yao generates or harmonizes with the Self Yao, the teacher is virtuous and capable of fostering growth. Hexagram interpretation: The Offspring Yao transforms into restraint, indicating it is inadvisable to study. Ignoring the advice, the teacher later scolded the son for skipping school, and the son fell at a bridgehead, breaking his right foot.
