The term "Three Harmony" does not mean only three groups of Earthly Branches combine, but rather that each combination is composed of three Earthly Branches. The three angles share special relationships and correspond with each other, symbolizing unity and cohesion. However, this explanation offers limited practical guidance for BaZi analysis—it mainly helps one understand that Three Harmony branches share the characteristic of unity and collaboration.

Second, the Sheng, Wang, and Ku combination from the Longevity Cycle. Using the Shen-Zi-Chen Water Bureau as an example: Shen is Water's Longevity position, Zi is Water's Imperial Prosperity position, and Chen is Water's Grave (Tomb/Vault) position. The remaining three Three Harmony groups follow the same logic. Longevity represents beginnings and new birth; Imperial Prosperity represents achievement and climax; the Grave represents gathering and storage—all in accordance with the natural law whereby all things grow, thrive, and eventually return to rest. In the case of a complete Three Harmony Bureau, the possibility of being broken apart is minimal; the clash merely constitutes an "action." Other Half Harmony types can be extrapolated using the same symbolic reasoning to expand one's thinking.

Speaking further of Arch Combinations—for example, Shen-Chen arching a bureau but lacking the Central Spirit—this represents a state of having no leader, akin to scattered sand, lacking a core, like stragglers and disbanded soldiers, struggling to form a unified force.

Three Harmony Bureaus exert significant influence over the chart's structure. For example: a Jia Day Master born in the Hai month establishes a Yin Seal pattern, with the Yin Seal being favorable. If the chart also contains Wei and a Wu luck period arrives, then Hai-Mao-Wei forms a Yang Blade Bureau, which instead damages the original pattern and proves highly unfavorable to the chart. Whether other Three Harmonies ruin the pattern depends on the pattern itself—its intention and conditions for success or failure.
